Hello, and welcome to warrior bride!

The heart behind Warrior Bride is to encourage us to live our best possible lives as children of God, to live out of the freedom and new life that are ours in Christ, to be a blessing to others.

I became a Christian at the age of 19. In that moment I was adopted into the Kingdom of God, I received new life, the old was gone, the new had come, I had a new heart. And yet for a long time I struggled to live out of that. I struggled to let go of hurt from the past, I struggled to believe that blessing was really for me, I struggled to see how I had been made new.

As Christians, so many of us do not live out of the fullness and blessing that are ours, we do not live as adopted sons and daughters of the highest King. I had to spend several years growing and letting the Holy Spirit transform me before I let go of the past. For so long I was a Christian, but I did not fully understand what that meant for me and I certainly did not live it out.

This blog has been born out of a desire to live out of the fullness of my salvation, and to encourage others to do the same. It is a desire to see freedom from captivity, to receive beauty for ashes, joy instead of mourning, a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. One of my favourite passages of scripture is Isaiah 61: 1-3:

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the Lord
for the display of his splendor.

 I have already walked a journey of receiving and embracing the freedom that is mine in Christ. But it isn’t a one-time thing. It is a lifelong journey of choosing to walk in His ways. It is a journey I am still on and probably will be my whole life. My hope and prayer for this blog is that my journey might encourage and inspire someone else in their journey. Let us go on this journey together.
